Our final week of my Natural Light in Atmosphere class covers rain, fog, snow and wind. I decided to focus on fog :)

As we are right smack in the middle of our foggiest time of the year, it was perfect timing for me to run around the city driving into the fog rather than away from it. Which is usually what I do.

I have never been sure about how to shoot in fog. I’ve only used it as negative space when framing my shots in the past. It was cool to be in the thick of it while photographing Jack-Jack. It has a sense of romance and mystery I’ve never paid much attention to before.
This class had presented me with several outdoor lighting conditions and situations that has pushed me outside of my comfort zone. I’ve always shot going with instinct and not real knowledge when it comes to different types of light I’m not real sure about. It is amazing to be able to shoot now with both instinct AND an understanding of what to actually do in these different conditions.
