Scrapes, PJs And A Penguin Friend

Yeah I know. It’s a pretty random title. It’s pretty random around here this week.

My oldest took a big fall while playing at school mid-week. He fell on his face :( My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach when I walked into the office to pick him up after they had called me. I think the office secretary was a little concerned I’d start bawling right there.

But it looked much worse than it really was. We cleaned him up and slathered Neosporin all over. And it was back to business as usual in our home.

I’ve been busy repurposing some of Rex’s old baby blankets. I’d been saving them for years. I’m happy to have found a good use for them with my new “skills” :)

I turned one of them into these for Jack-Jack! :) A pajama top was wayy too complicated for me to tackle so I settled on pajama pants and appliqued her initial on a plain white shirt to match! I found a simple tutorial for the pants here.

Sorry, this was the best shot I could take of her in it.

They are super comfy and soft. It makes me smile to see her walking around the house in them at bedtime.

I knew I wanted to make some kind of soft toy for her out of one of them so I found this pattern for a penguin on a sewing blog I had started following. Except my penguin could pass for an owl. And has a slightly “misplaced” nose. *sigh* But we won’t look too closely will we? 1 year olds barely know the difference between owls and penguins.(They are both birds right?). She cares that it looks like a baby (that’s what she called it at first) and that it’s super soft and cuddly!

Rex has put in a request for a Police penguin. Wish me luck.
